Okay, so I'm going to be totally honest here. I started Rise and Grind because I wanted a Onewheel. That was literally the whole reason. I was obsessed with that thing and I needed to find a way to make money, so I started baking sourdough. But then something kind of crazy happened, and now I'm not just thinking about the Onewheel anymore. The same company just released this mini bike called the Antic, and I'm completely obsessed with it. It's not like those massive electric motorcycles. It's compact and smooth and honestly just the coolest thing ever. And here's the thing, I want it before Christmas.
Like, I genuinely do love baking bread. That part wasn't fake. I actually love feeding people real, good sourdough and watching them taste something I made. But I'm also twelve years old and homeschooled, so saving up for something feels huge to me. When I started this a year ago on the bread grind, I had no idea that my neighbors would start ordering loaves after trying one. I didn't think people would be texting me about scoring patterns and crumb structure and whether I use a Dutch oven (I do, obviously). And I definitely didn't think I could actually make consistent money from this.
Every time someone places an order, I'm a little bit closer to getting that Antic by December. Like, the money in my savings account is real. It's me waking up at six in the morning on Saturdays doing stretch-and-folds before homeschool. It's checking on Yeaston, my starter, to make sure he's got that perfect bubbly energy before I mix a new batch. It's been getting cooler here in Vegas lately, which actually means my fermentation times aren't totally crazy like they used to be. That said, the heat definitely made me way better at reading dough instead of just watching a timer, so I'm grateful for that learning experience.
The thing is, I still don't know if I'm actually going to buy the Antic, or if I'll chicken out because it's expensive. But what I do know is that baking sourdough turned into something that actually matters. It's about having people depend on you. It's about showing up with flour under your fingernails and proving that a twelve-year-old homeschooled kid can actually build something real.
So yeah, thanks to everyone who's ordered from Rise and Grind. You're literally helping me chase my dream, and I'm grateful every single time I mix another batch.
